The following conditions must be satisfied by applicants in order to obtain a work visa in Vietnam:
- Older than 18 years old
- Possess the technical training, work experience, and overall health necessary to do the job satisfactorily.
- Not being prosecuted for a crime under the laws of Vietnam or their home country.
- Not serving a sentence currently; not having a conviction that has not yet been satisfied;
- Be an executive officer, manager, specialist, or technical employee with training and specialized knowledge.

To apply for a work permit in Vietnam, you will need to submit the following documents:
- A valid passport with at least 6 months remaining before expiration
- A valid Vietnam visa
- A Health Declaration Form
- A police clearance certificate from your home country

Vietnam Work permit Application Procedures
An employer must go through two processes in order to secure work permits for foreign workers: one to request permission to hire foreigners, and the other to apply for work permits.
First, the head of the province People’s Committee must receive a report outlining the demand for foreign workers. The company must then give the provincial Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Department a dossier of application for a work permit as specified in Article 10 of Decree 102 (instead of the current 20 working days) at least 15 working days before the foreign employee begins working.

- Experts and managers working for representative offices of foreign traders: Experts and managers working for representative offices of foreign traders in Vietnam who hold work permit exemptions certificates issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade are also exempt from obtaining work permits.
- Experts and managers working for foreign non-governmental organizations: Experts and managers working for foreign non-governmental organizations in Vietnam who hold work permit exemptions certificates issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are also exempt from obtaining work permits.
- Intra-company transferees: Intra-company transferees who are sent to Vietnam by their parent company to work in a subsidiary, branch or representative office are also exempt from obtaining work permits.
